Sergio Armaroli

Sergio Armaroli was born in 1972 and graduated with honour at Brera Academy of Arts in Milan. He completed his musical studies - percussion instruments - at the G. Verdi Conservatory - Milano.

He has won a master degree as professore d’orchestra at the Academy of A. Toscanini Foundation in Parma (Italy), moreover, he continued his studies at Istituto Superior de Arte de L’Habana (Cuba).

He plays with the G. Verdi Orchestra in Milan, conducted by L. Chailly, the G. Cantelli Orchestra (as first percussionist) and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Milan Conservatore. Besides he has a good collaboration with the Ensemble Orfeo, Icarus Ensemble, Ensemble N. Castiglioni, playing in important concert seasons such as La Società del Quartetto, and the RAI Radio Tre Suite.

As a soloist he played The King of Denmark by M. Feldman - Hymnen (version with soloists), and Mikrophonie 1 for Tam tam and live electronics by K. Stockhausen.

In 2002 Armaroli has premiered A way by G. Giuliano (for voice, percussions, computer tape and live electronics) at Dal Verme Theatre in Milan, and in may 2006 he played Miss Z by Giuliano, with Ingrid Caven as singer, at Cité de la musique - Paris, and more recently at Berliner Ensemble Theater – Berlin.

He regularly plays in the percussion group Naqqara conducted by Ben Omar.
