Katharine Norman

Katharine Norman is a British composer and Lecturer in Composition at Sheffield University. She has a PhD from Princeton, where she studied composition and computer music. Her work encompasses instrumental, electronic and collaborative pieces and has been performed and broadcast in Europe and America. Icarus, for voices and tape, was selected for the 1995 ISCM World Music Days and Trilling Wire, for clarinet and tape, received an honourable mention in the 1994 Russolo competition. Her other awards have included a Fulbright scholarship, a Wingate fellowship and commissions from the Arts Council of England. She is director of Some Arts Network, a UK organisation for musicians and composers working with technology.
