Frank Lyons

Frank Lyons began playing guitar in his early teens, studying rock and jazz and gigging extensively. After graduating from the University of Ulster with a Bmus (Hons), he completed a PhD in Composition at the same university in 1999. He took up the post of Training Officer with the Drake Music Project in 1999, where he directs the Wired Ensemble, a new music group which combines disabled and non-disabled musicians, blending cutting-edge technologies with conventional instruments He also lectures at the University of Ulster where, in addition to teaching Music Technology, Analysis, Composition and Film Music, he directs the UUJ Jazz Ensemble. As a composer, his work has been performed in the UK and Ireland, Europe and the United States and has been broadcast by RTE and the BBC.
