Wormhole began life as a trio consisting of John Ferguson (electric guitars), Will Edmondes (double bass, guitar, SU10 samplers, dictaphones) and Bennett Hogg (violin, viola, piano) who mostly gigged around Newcastle during 2005 to 2006. Since early in 2008 Bennett and John have “gone it alone” as Will has developed other projects, and they are now working almost exclusively in the studio, though still putting on the occasional duo set here and there, and working on various ongoing live performance projects to do with “playing at a distance” - the installation-performance piece Ghost Orchestra at Newcastle-Gateshead’s AV08 Festival, for instance. As well as the album Breath Wood Bone by the original trio, available on “Clinical Archives” as a free download, Wormhole - in their more recent duo formation - have a new track on the excellent 9-CD compilation Clinical Jazz (it’s called Steaming Priest and you can hear it on CD number 8, which also features a solo track by John entitled Sunday at STEIM). An EP of past duo projects is due to be released in a limited handmade edition later this year, and plans are afoot to release a longer album of current projects in the not too distant future.
